AGA Demonstration Day 2023 - A Recap
.
We're excited to have Na Hansell visiting us once again next week for another delightful AGA cooking demonstration. To get you in the mood, here's a recap of last year's amazing Spring cooking demo, and a hint of what you could be in for this year...
It was to spring sunshine and the smell of freshly baked focaccia wafting through the showroom that we opened our doors for our exclusive AGA demonstration on Wednesday 26th April. We were delighted to welcome renowned AGA demonstrator Na Hansell, who cooked up a mouth-watering menu that was a delight to the taste buds!
With the warm ambiance of the AGA and delicious aromas setting the scene, attendees were given a full 90 minute, sit down lesson in exquisite AGA cooking which covered a range of different dishes and insider tips for cooking on their AGA.
The AGAs
Cooking on our two showroom AGAs, the eR7 150 and our brand new eR3 90, Na showcased the versatility of the eR series in all its glory. Both models use cast iron ovens that emit a gentle radiant heat from the cast iron, and the flavours and goodness are truly locked into the food, whether you're baking, simmering, grilling or roasting.
When it came to frying, steaming and boiling, Na was spoilt for choice! With it's two hotplates (one for boiling, one for simmering), plus an induction hob, the eR7 is one of the most flexible AGA cookers ever! Similarly, the eR3 90, although more compact, also offers great flexibility, with its hotplate, which can be set to either boiling or simmering, and its induction hob for instant and controllable heat.
The Menu
Showcasing the versatility of the AGAs, Na cooked up a diverse menu, with world cuisines, old favourites, and new innovations all featuring, and a selection of starters, sides, mains and sweet treats on offer.
To get everyone in the celebratory mood for King Charles' Coronation, Na began by preparing a Coronation Quiche. Packed with veggies and beautifully light, this is sure to become a summer staple. It's the perfect dish to serve at a family picnic or a summer fete.
Next up, our taste-buds were taken for a trip to the torrid sands of the Middle East, with a Persian inspired roasted pepper and orzo pilaf. With fresh and bright peppers, parsley and dill, this side dish adds a lovely pop of colour to any table, and is quick and easy to make. Simple, lightly spiced and scrumptious.
With so many fantastic courses being cooked, it was tricky to pick a favourite, but for us, the real centrepiece had to be the succulent roast beef, with steamed new potatoes and a chimchurri sauce. Roasted for four hours in the roasting oven of the eR7, Na used a MEATER Plus to time the cook to perfection. Is there anything quite so beautiful as an exquisitely cooked roast beef?
Finishing off with something sweet, everyone's taste buds were tantalised with a fabulous rhubarb streusel. Incredibly moreish, this cakey crumble, with a sweet rhubarb filling, drizzled with a generous helping of white chocolate was an instant hit. The plate was soon empty!
