BONK & CO RECOMMEND THE USE OF A SURFACE THERMOMETER TO HELP MONITOR YOUR STOVE’S SURFACE TEMPERATURE AND PERFORMANCE.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
The optimizer attaches magnetically to either the stove top or stovepipe. The optimal location on the stove top is your estimate of the hottest spot. The optimum location on the stovepipe is 12 inches (30 cm) above the stove. The folding handle permits you to move the thermometer safely when hot.
GUIDELINES FOR TEMPERATURE READING
The Target Zones indicated on the thermometer represent safe operating temperatures where complete combustion and efficiency are achieved.
Always consult your stove manufacturer’s manual for precise temperature recommendations.
WHY USE THIS THERMOMETER?
It is impossible to know accurately, by looking at the burning flames, the temperature of your stove and stovepipe. The Optimiser enables you to avoid burning too hot and prevents damage to your stove.
An under-fired woodstove is smoky, causing hazardous creosote to accumulate in the stovepipe. The Optimiser informs you when the burn rate is too cool, and tells you when optimum firing is achieved for safe operation.
